Gravitational holographic duality

AdS/CFT is another revolutionary understanding of gravity after Newton and Einstein, which tells us that the gravitational dynamics in a higher dimension has a one-to-one correspondence with the gravitation-free quantum many body system in a lower dimension on its boundary. Physics has thus been further unified.

 

In particular, we can discover some universal behaviors of quantum many body systems on the boundary (such as quark-gluon plasma, condensed matter systems, cold atom systems, etc.) by studying gravitational dynamics in the bulk. This is a very active area of research, which is known as applied AdS/CFT. On the other hand, AdS/CFT also inspires us to understand the origin of spacetime through quantum entanglement. Efforts in this area is currently being made partly through the IT from Qubit international collaboration.
