Center for Relativity and Gravitation,Beijing Normal University

Center for Relativity and Gravitation of Beijing Normal University , formerly known as the Gravity Group of the Department of Physics of BNU, was founded in 1978 by Professor Liao Liu (former President of the Chinese Society for Gravity and Relativistic Astrophysics, a famous expert in general relativity), and has become a famous research and training center for "gravity and relativity" in China through the joint efforts of Prof. Canbin Liang (the first National Special Award for Outstanding Teaching Achievement) and Prof. Zheng Zhao (former President of the Chinese Society for Gravity and Relativistic Astrophysics). The Gravity Group of the Department of Physics, combining with some scholars from the Department of Astronomy, became the Center for Relativity and Gravitation in January 2021. The core members of the Research Center include 8 serving faculty members, 5 post-docs and about 50 graduate students; the scientific research of the Center involves the frontier fields of gravitational physics and astronomy such as general relativity, quantum gravity, black holes, numerical relativity, gravitational wave astronomy, gravitational holographic duality, modified gravity and cosmology.
